You never specified what kind of car you’re going for (luxury, mainstream, construction work, leisure, etc) so I’m just going to rack off company names with a brief description of each that I think are suitable. Audi - Audi’s interiors are terrific. Especially their newest models (2017 Audi A4, 2018 Audi, 2017 Audi Q7, etc.) Oh, they also have pretty great value for your money. BMW - For all your sport related needs. Not a lot of people buy the flagship BMW 7 series, but most of them go for the BMW 3 series, 5 series, or X5 SUV. Cadillac - Cadillac revamped it’s performance division recently. If you want a highly capable car with a Corvette engine inside a compact/mid-size luxury sedan body, go for the Cadillac CTS-V. Cheverolet (Chevy) - Chevy’s products recently got more premium than ever before. Chevy’s Malibu sedan recently got a full redesign, becoming longer, wider, and more premium than ever before. Or you could shop for a Chevy Silverado (rival to the Ford F Series, & Ram Series) The Chevy Colorado is also a popular choice. It won the Motor Trend Truck of the Year twice in a row (2015–2016). There’s also the choice of the Chevy Volt, a popular alternative to the Toyota Prius, and Nissan Leaf. Chrysler - The NEW Pacifica minivan is much more premium than the Chrysler Town & Country it replaces. But you might want to wait for the NEW 2018 Honda Odyssey to come out and compare before you buy. Dodge - For all your SRT and Hellcat needs. Fiat - If you want a timeless looking car, go for Fiat. The Fiat 500’s design was designed 10 years ago, although it looks like it’s been designed only a few years ago. Although, it has pretty bad reliability. And it’s owned by Chrysler so… Ford - Home to the popular Ford F Series (F-150, F-250, etc.). Ford also manufacturers the Ford Explorer, which has always been a long time favorite for a lot of Americans. Not to mention the Ford Escape and Ford Fusion. Ford has also created performance variants of many popular vehicles: Focus (ST, RS), Fusion (Sport), Fiesta (ST), Explorer (Sport), F-150 (Raptor), etc. Genesis - Hyundai’s new luxury brand. There’s the G90, the Equus replacement, and the G80, the Genesis sedan rebadge. Genesis, again is known for value. The G90 flagship is only about 70 grand, fully loaded. But ultimately, if you want more prestige, than I recommend you skip this brand. Honda - Honda produces some of the most popular sedans and crossovers today. I see a TON of Honda Pilots out on the road, so you might want to go for one if you’re interested in a large crossover. Honda has also unveiled the NEW 2017/2018 CRV, so you could check out that model as well. Honda’s sedans are pretty sporty, and you could get hyped up about the Civic R. Oh,and finally, Honda’s hybrids are very efficient, and the company is releasing its Clarity Fuel Cell Sedan this year. Hyundai - They revamped themselves (they completely turned themselves around) back in 2011. Now, they are known for superb value without the problems they had before. Some of the most popular models are the Hyundai Sonata, Hyundai Elantra, and Hyundai Tuscon. Jeep - For all your non luxury off-road needs. Jaguar - A popular, British automaker. The most popular model is their redesigned XF model back in 2016 with a nice interior, and great engines. Other models, that are worth noting is the completely brand new XE sedan, and the F-Pace crossover. Oh, they also manufacture the F-Type, a successor to the E-Type. Kia - A sister company to Hyundai, Kia is also known for value. However, Kia vehicles usually handle better than Hyundai vehicles, so you might want to opt for Kia if you want value and decent handling. Kia’s most popular vehicles are the: Sorento, Optima, Sportage, & the Soul. 3 of 4 (not including Soul) are redesigned for the 2016/2017 year, so you might want to check them out. Land Rover - A sister company to Jaguar, Land Rover is well-known around the world for their off-road vehicles. However, Land Rovers usually have poor reliability, so consider that. Lexus - The premium subdivision of Toyota, Lexus vehicles have been known for their reliability, and their soft, cushy rides. However, Lexus has undergone a change in the more recent years, and have transitioned from having plain styling to aggressive and polarizing styling. The most popular Lexus models sold in the US are the Lexus RX (accounts for up to 25% of luxury crossover sales), Lexus ES, Lexus IS, and the Lexus NX. Maserati - A classic Italian luxury/sports automaker, Maserati recently announced their brand new Levante SUV. It’s priced upwards of 70 grand though. Mazda - Known for their well handling cars and SUVs, and nice interiors, a Mazda is going to be a great buy. Mercedes - Long reputed for being the king of innovation, Mercedes vehicles do not disappoint. (Trust me, I’ve been in quite a few.) However, you’ve got to be careful if buying a Mercedes, as the price can skyrocket if you’re not careful. Nissan - Most popular cars are the Rogue, Altima, and Sentra, Murano, Juke and Maxima. The Maxima and Murano have fabulous interiors, with NASA inspired styling. Nissan is also working with Mercedes to create the QX30 (Infiniti) with drivetrains and engines from Mercedes, while Mercedes gets its own luxury truck with help from Nissan. Porsche - Porsche is favored among many car enthusiasts because of their fast, good handling vehicles. One of the most popular vehicles Porsche manufactures is the Porsche 911, although all of Porsche’s vehicles are great. Porsche, unlike many other German automakers, has SUPERB reliability, even topping out Lexus. So if you want a fast and reliable German vehicle, go for Porsche. Ram - Ram trucks are great trucks. They usually have the best payload of its competitors, the best efficiency, and the best towing. Ram is the only one out of all 3 main competitors (Ford, Chevy, Ram) to have a turbodiesel engine (great efficiency). They also have the Rebel performance truck too. Subaru - All BUT ONE of Subaru’s vehicles have standard all-wheel drive. So, if you’re looking for a vehicle as cheap as 18 grand (Subaru Impreza). Oh, also, for 2017, the Subaru Impreza is going to be completely redesigned with new styling, and tech, such as LED projector lamps that turn as you turn the steering wheel to better illuminate corners. Tesla - Who doesn’t know Tesla? I usually see quite a few black Tesla’s where I live (Colorado). Tesla, as you all know is famed for its Tesla Model S sedan. It’s a sedan that runs completely on electricity, and with a $10,000 Ludicrous Mode upgrade, is capable to hit 60 mph in only 2.8 seconds. That’s a GT/supercar/hypercar number. Tesla also provides its Supercharger Network to quickly re-charge your Tesla for free. However, before you buy the Tesla Model S, it’s important to know that many other rival automakers (Audi, and Mercedes, etc.) are pushing out their own performance sedans and crossovers. Speaking of crossovers, the Model X is out right now, so you might want to check it out. Toyota - Toyota is a LARGE corporation that is responsible for producing the most popular family sedan out there today, the Camry. The Camry is going to receive a full redesign for the 2018 year, so if you’re planning to buy a 2017 Camry, you might want to wait. Prototypes are already out testing. Also, Toyota is famed for its Prius liftback, the first hybrid car. On another note, the Toyota RAV4 is also very popular, and could take reign as Toyota’s best selling vehicle, overthrowing the Camry. Finally, if you haven’t heard, Toyota is releasing the C-HR, a subcompact SUV to compete with the likes of the Nissan Juke, Mazda CX-3, Honda HRV, and more. Volkswagen - Yeah, the diesel scandal isn’t too good for Volkswagen. However, Volkswagen has committed to an all electric future, and has released quite a few electric vehicles. Volkswagen is committed to have 30% of its lineup electrified by 2030, and its well on its way there. Meanwhile, the VW Passat, Jetta, and Touareg are all great vehicles to buy. Not to mention the popular Golf and Beetle. Volkswagen just revealed its new large SUV, and its named Atlas (to make it easier to pronounce than Tiguan and Touareg). Volvo - Really, the reason why some of Volvo’s models looks SO OLD, is because Volvo has been on the brink of bankruptcy a few years ago, before being bought by Chinese automaker Geely. However, just last year, the new and completely redesigned 2016 Volvo XC90 won Motor Trend’s SUV of the Year with a completely stunning exterior, interior design, as well as modern safety tech. For 2017, Volvo is replacing the old and outdated S80 sedans and XC70 wagon with the S90 flagship sedan, and V90 wagon. For 2018, Volvo is introducing the XC40 crossover/hatchback to the United States (with Volvo’s current design language of course) as a hatchback/crossover alternative to the S40 sedan. That sedan should be bound to get a redesign soon. Also, for 2018, Volvo is redesigning the XC60 crossover. A similar vehicle to the XC90 is the new redesigned 2017 Audi Q7 that is meant to take on the XC90. So, here are the automakers. You can choose which one you think is best. I’ve exempted some automakers, because they are not well known, not up to snuff, or are just to extravagant (e.i: Pagani, Buick, Acura, Infiniti, Bugati, Rolls Royce, Bentley, etc.)
